A Hot! Fourth of July

We found some fireworks on our trip to East Texas looking for Blueberries.
They don't sell them in Flower Mound :).

We also found the Canton Flee Market - it is advertised as the worlds largest. They have everything in literally miles of booths. No we did not bring home the dog.

The Jaden Blueberry Pose

The Jaden Blueberry Pose - See bottom of blog (last year)

We found the blueberries. It is a 2 hour drive and by the time we got there it was 9am - and the tempetures were already in the 90s. Luckily the blueberry bushes are large and give a lot of shade. We picked 3 gallons and purchased 4 more - that should get us through next year. We eat a lot of blueberries.

John participated in the Venture crew high adventure with a group of great young men and wonderful leaders. Brother Doe not only taught us how to dive but took some great underwater pictures. Although it was out of John's comfort zone, it proved to be a fun and memorable trip.
Can you smile with a regulator in your mouth? Yes! Justice Burkart having a great time. Although I'm not smiling, I also had a great time.

I had the most amazing birthday. Donna made sure my 50th birthday would never be forgotten - even when alzheimers set in.

It started with a weekend get away to the Great Wolf Lodge. Appropriate for a 50 year old wolf

Donna planned a day full of fun - the first of nine events was breakfast on the Flower Mound.

My family showered me with kind words, cards, and gifts, but the most awsome gift was a book that over 70 of my friends and family contributed to. I've never felt so good as I read those wonderful, kind, and loving thoughts and memories from the people who I love.

Thanks to everyone who made my birthday so memorable!

Killer Car (at least for mice)

Stephanie was very lucky to have a sister and brother-in-law in engineering when her physics class assignment required her to build a mouse trap car this week. It didn't hurt to have her Dad for a partner, either. With her family coaching, Stephanie built a really great car. It traveled further than any car in the class. Have a look.
